ClockShark is the closest match to Temporra of the three apps we compare. Both are built for construction crews, with GPS clock-in, job costing and a face check. The biggest differences are commercial: ClockShark prices in US dollars on a three-year contract term, Temporra in pounds, billed monthly. We checked every ClockShark detail below on 25 September 2026.

Where ClockShark is stronger

Out on site, mostly. Its Crew Clock lets a supervisor clock in the whole crew at once, including anyone without a phone, or send the team to lunch together. Temporra has no crew clock-in. ClockShark also drops a breadcrumb of each worker's location every 10 to 15 minutes while they're on the clock, and shows everyone on one "Who's Working Now" map.

Its integrations page lists QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online, ADP, Xero, Gusto, MYOB, Simpro and Zapier, among others. Temporra's payroll link is a CSV export. ClockShark's Pro plan also adds clock-out questionnaires that flag answers you've marked as unexpected, such as an injury on the job.

Where Temporra is different

UK site compliance is part of the product. Temporra produces monthly CIS payment and deduction statements. It covers digital permits for working at height, hot work, confined spaces and ladders, Toolbox Talks and RAMS that workers sign, and CSCS cards, certificates and right-to-work documents with expiry alerts and an optional clock-in block. ClockShark's site doesn't list any of those.

The commercial terms are the bigger split. Temporra is billed monthly with no annual plan, and if you cancel you keep access to the end of the month you've paid for. A leaver set to inactive stops counting straight away. ClockShark's pricing page puts every plan on a three-year term. Its terms add that your first billed user count sets your minimum commitment, that fees aren't refundable, and that on multi-year agreements the per-user fee rises each anniversary by US inflation (CPI-U) plus up to 5%.

Where Temporra falls short: it doesn't track location between clock-in and clock-out, and its face match has no liveness detection. Treat that as a deterrent, not proof.

Who each one suits

ClockShark suits a contractor who wants foremen clocking in whole crews, a breadcrumb trail through the day and a direct link to QuickBooks or Xero, and who is happy paying in dollars on a three-year term.

Temporra suits a UK firm that wants CIS statements, permits and certificate checks in the same app, priced in pounds and billed a month at a time.

UK differences that matter

ClockShark says pricing and billing are in US dollars, and its pricing page doesn't mention VAT. Its support hours are listed as 5am to 5pm Pacific time, Monday to Friday. That's roughly 13:00 to 01:00 in the UK for most of the year, and the phone number is toll-free for the US and Canada. Temporra support runs 09:00 to 17:00 UK time on 020 3411 1886. CIS statements are built into Temporra and not listed by ClockShark. Temporra sets geofences from UK postcodes and stores data on IONOS servers in London. ClockShark advertises built-in Spanish, while Temporra covers English, Romanian, Russian, Polish, Bulgarian and Italian. Running Sage? ClockShark's Sage integration is with Sage 100 Contractor, so check that's the product you use.

What a 12-person crew pays

Assume 12 active workers.

Temporra: the 11-20 band, £129 a month with VAT included, billed monthly.

ClockShark: Pro is the fairer match, because time off, advanced job costing and the compliance forms are Pro-only. That's a $63 base fee plus 12 × $11.50, so $201 a month. Standard would be $42 plus 12 × $9.50, which is $156. The pricing page shows a single price set with a three-year contract term and doesn't mention tax. If 20% UK VAT is added, Pro comes to $241.20 a month. Over the three-year term, Pro totals $7,236 before VAT at today's rates, and the terms allow a rise on each anniversary. The sterling cost will also move with the exchange rate.

Twelve months of Temporra at the same headcount comes to £1,548 with VAT included, and you can stop after any month.

Switching from ClockShark

Read your ClockShark order first. Its terms say services renew automatically unless ended under your agreement or order, so note when your term ends.
Export your timesheet reports (ClockShark's help centre has a guide) and keep them. HMRC expects payroll records to be kept for three years after the tax year they relate to.
Start a Temporra trial (14 days, no card) and add each job by its UK postcode, setting the geofence radius for the whole company or per job.
Add your workers, enrol their faces and upload their CSCS cards and right-to-work documents.
If your foremen used Crew Clock, decide how each gang will clock in now: through the app, or on a shared kiosk tablet with a PIN each.
Run both for a week. Compare the hours, then import Temporra's payroll CSV into your payroll software and check the totals.

Common questions

Does ClockShark have facial recognition?

Yes, on ClockShark Kiosk. Switched on for an employee, the kiosk takes a photo at clock-in, clock-out and job switches and sends an alert if it doesn't match. The first kiosk photo becomes the reference. Temporra checks each worker's face against an enrolled face at clock-in, without liveness detection.

Is there a contract with ClockShark?

Its pricing page says a three-year contract term applies to all plans, and its terms say fees are non-refundable. Temporra is billed monthly, has no annual plan and can be cancelled at any time.

Can a foreman clock in the whole crew?

In ClockShark, yes. Its Crew Clock lets a supervisor clock the crew in and out. Temporra has no crew clock-in: each worker clocks in through the app, or on a shared kiosk tablet with their own PIN.
